Sort of update on Germany

Jul 26, 2012 13:31

Er, ok... So.

I went ahead and applied for a University in Potsdam. That's all gone through and seems to be fine; they have all my info before the deadline and I think I'm accepted.

But.

I got a phonecall on Friday from the teaching assistenship woman. She said there might be a place for me on an assistentship if I was still willing. i said yes ( Read more... )

fate loves me?, i ramble, my taichou~, german, capslock, the good always comes with the bad, i'm a dork, i don't make sense, help, i know what i'm doing in theory, fail, i fail at life, madness, school, uni, general babble, angst

Hang in there!

I personally always love the quick and dirty developments/decisions in my life and never came to regret those, actually. The longer I fretted or thought over something, the less successful it turned out to be. Weird but true. Thus, I say, go with the flow!

Start making packing lists. Get your finances in order and get all the shots you need. (we Germans got the rabbies ;) No, of course not, but know what I mean.)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you receive word soon and finally know where you are heading! ♥

I'll try XD

Yeah, I do get that feeling sometimes XD I have to admit, the changes that have been sprung on me have turned out pretty well. I'm just so flaily right now over the short timespan to get everything done; I had things planned for this time. Meet-ups and commissions. And now I suddenly have a whole month less and idek what needs to be done first >3>

Haha, good advice~ I will make lists of everything to be done... At least health insurance is covered because the school has me pay into a public fun as part of my earnings. So it's just registering with the local government and opening a bank account to do when I get there.

Thanks <3 I hope so too |D

Arrgh! So close!
Good luck. Yes, it sounds as if you're in and everyone is just too overworked to give you a phonecall. I'm sure it will be fantastic.
On a selfish note, are we still on for the Isle of Wight, which, if I caculate right, is also in a month? :o

ikr? |D;
Thanks <3 I'm just waiting on an email/letter/something from my school so I can get to work on finding accomodation :S I need somewhere to live!
Er... I'm not actually sure yet, which is why I didn't mention anything on fb. Sophie will still be here even if I'm not so we should be, I... just might not be here... The induction course is August 27-30th. It just depends whether I have to go straight on to my placement school afterward or whether I can come back for the weekend, which I will be doing if it's at all possible!

Aw, well many many congrats on sorting the placement. It must be a weight off your mind. I do hope you're there though. I was really hoping for a Byaku. If I'm deprived..... well, I'm traumatised enough! ;) It would be sad though, so I selfishly hope you'll be allowed to return. ;) Just a thought - are you still down on the 31st? Some family friends have invited me for dinner out, but I have a note on the 31st saying "Cara and Sophie" with a question mark by it! I don't think we ever decided for sure.

Induction course sounds like some kind of interview. It's kinda common here in Germany, it's like applying for a job.
I'm not sure since I was never at a university but like I said, stuff like that is common over here.

If you need help with your german information, please give it to me and I'll translate it for you XD

It's partly that and partly a 'here are things that might trouble you while you're in Germany and how to deal with them!' XD Like opening a bank account and registering with the government and things. And then there's a quick teaching course for those of us who've never taught kids before, before they throw us in with them and expect us to prep lessons and actually teach... I should be fine, I have plenty of experience XD But the course is still compulsory.
This one's not for the uni, it's for a teaching assistentship. it's what I wanted to do originally :3 It's just on a much shorter timespan than the uni placement |D

Hehe, thank you <3 I think I've gotten the idea of what it says now but I will definitely bother you in the future if it starts confusing me again |D
