Oh, Mary, I love this! Poor, poor Shuuhei! My heart bleeds for him.
"Kanisawa would have killed him" has got to be my favorite line, though. Totally heartbreaking as I always gave Kanisawa and Aoga a big part of Shuu's life in my imagination and for him to have lost them...

He’d expected them to, obviously, but they pulled horribly every time he smiled.
Aaah, I never thought about it that way! Shuuhei's character just became even more tragic, I didn't know it were possible! That poor boy!!
I think especially in the Academy these two would hit it off right away, before they are separated by their respective Divisions.
