A little more liberty someplace, a little less elsewhere... [People could get away with saying more, such as about memory crystals, she recalled Kagerou's attestation.] Do you really know better, though?
I'm sure plenty would be happy to contest that I don't. I suppose it's a possibility to take into consideration.
[He clasped his hands behind the small of Stellaris' back in a mirror of the hold she had around his shoulders, then leaned forward to murmur in her ear at a volume only she should be able to hear.]
So, just speculating using the theory that I don't know any better--I can think of certain parties who might benefit from making the upper floors appeal more than the lower.
[Three weeks, three months, how did she get by without him, again? They were talking about the serious matter of their mission, Stellaris knew, but their current position really brought to her mind how she really missed the warmth of contact and the sway of his voice close to her ears. She leaned closer until her lips barely brushed at his ear.]
The floor demarcation isn't as rigid as before, it appears, and if the one on top could affect things down below then I suppose we have confirmation. But the other side tried to spread their wings as well. I now know who's responsible for the fortune telling machine.
[She pulled back a little, just enough to make eye contact, but her voice remained barely above a whisper.]
Our side probably can't afford to wait very long anymore, if they're starting to take it to the next level. But I really don't know what's the best course of action.
Not just a trickle down effect, but more of a trickle all around effect, hm?
[It was all too easy to fall into the groove that physical affection afforded and he took to tracing lazy circles on her back with his thumb as her breath brushed against his ear. Yes, things were serious, but then, when weren't they? And if things were always serious then some mixing of business with pleasure was inevitable.
Still, when she pulled back and looked him in the eye it had a somewhat sobering effect.]
If our side could pull little tricks like rending and mending the fabric of space, I think it'd be a little easier to choose what sort of action to take. As is, it feels like we're waiting for any little break to pop up.
[It was a familiar feeling, being a force on the outside of the 'sanctioned' sides, and seemingly overpowered. That familiarity didn't make this any less precarious. Stellaris was right; a move would have to be made eventually. After a moment he latched on to something else she said.] But the fortune telling machine, hm? Linked

Regardless of the trickling direction, I would prefer not being the one left to clean up, even if I work in Housekeeping.
[She had picked up a bit of his snarking tendency, but it was difficult not to when they practically had no downtime from Edensphere's being Edensphere.]
[The snark is certainly well-suited to the situation and gets an amused snort from Lyle in response.]
Can't say I blame you.
[He cocked his head to the side.] Textually, hm? I see. Looks like I may have to do some reading around the journals to get some context for this textuality. And maybe you can point me in the right direction for this little reading venture? [He disengaged one hand from behind her in order to pull his journal off the table.]
[Stellaris turned her head to see what he was up to and let out an amused, yet exasperated little sigh when he reached for his journal. It was nice that he understood her meaning, but she wondered since when he became the workaholic one between the two of them.]
Sure you want to do that now? I thought you were hungry. [She accentuated the reminder with a finger traveling down his chest and onto his stomach. Then she leaned close to his ear and whispered.] And you haven't even kissed me yet.
[Her trailing finger was watched with great interest as it progressed downward.]
You know... you bring up a very valid point. It can wait.
[The journal was tossed back from whence it came (or thereabouts--it bounced off the table and onto the floor where it was promptly forgotten). With that out of the way he brought one hand up to cup Stellaris' cheek turning to catch her lips in a lingering kiss.]
I'm quite a decent valid point upbrin-mm. [That's more like it.
The hand by Lyle's stomach moved round his back, pulling them closer as Stellaris kissed back with a different sort of hunger. After some time, she pulled away, long enough only for drawing a sharp breath before going back to nibbling at his lips.]
[As vital as breathing was, Lyle couldn't help making a disappointed noise in the back of his throat when they broke apart. It didn't take long for that noise to transition into a husky moan of approval once her teeth grazed his lips.
The hand cupping Stellaris' face moved to tangle in her hair, supporting the back of her head for a long moment until Lyle initiated the next break for air, drawing back long enough to breathlessly murmur against her mouth.] What are your thoughts [He interrupted himself to place a kiss on her jaw.] on working up more of an appetite [Now he was by her ear, leaning forward to take her lobe in his mouth and give it a quick nibble to punctuate his point.] before we eat anything?
[The breaking away pulled a sigh out of Stellaris, but not one in protest as by now she had learned what to anticipate. She closed her eyes, nuzzled at the side of his face and reveled in the sweet predictables, made sweeter knowing the unpredictable nature of the strange realm they lived in.]
Can you guess [She wriggled on his lap, deliberately brushing on some choice regions.] what my thoughts are?
[As her body moved just so his breath hitched, segueing into a breathy chuckle against her cheek. A keen and observant learner in all things, Stellaris had picked up on quite a few very effective ways of pushing his buttons.]
Mmm, I think I have a pretty good idea.
[His free hand, which had come to rest on her hip, slowly ran down her thigh as Lyle contemplated walking to the bedroom together. When that hand came to rest on her knee he decided he had hit upon a better idea--one made all the easier by the fact that she was sitting on his lap. Looping one arm behind Stellaris' back and the other under her knees he rose, taking a few steps aside to circumvent both chair and table.]
But I'd like to have my guesses confirmed. [He paused long enough to lean forward and steal a kick, sloppy kiss before starting to make his way towards the door in the back.] Preferably through very detailed demonstration.
[Probably for the better that they rose; the way they had been using it, it was a wonder the poor chair survived the last several months. When he moved his hand under her knees, she tightened her hold on by reflex and softly giggled.] How thorough of you.
[As nice as sloppy kisses were, though, as they passed through the door she remembered something.] Mmh, wait, Lyle, put me down.
[Stellaris crouched by the bed and peeked below, then quickly removed her shoes and socks. She held on the last sock after opening it, waving it to something under the bed.]
Here, Shizu!
[Shizuko perked up and tried to grab the sock, but Stellaris stood up and used it to lead the sock monster to the door. Then she flung the sock outside, watched the cloth critter chase it and promptly closed the door.]
Done.
[That wasn't food sock, alas. But those were in the next room and she did not feel like taking the time to go there.]
Are your keys with you? I'll be there soon, though.
I miss you.

Personally, no. Textually, though...
