[Strangely, Krile's first thought when she wakes up is how much this dream is like the one she had where she and Paladin were climbing a sword that was suddenly normal-sized.

Then she thinks a little more. That ash all around--it was too close to the moments after the lantern-lighting for her comfort. But it isn't surprising that it would stick with someone even in dreams. And unless she was dreaming that she was somebody else--which has happened, although she's always retained a sense of being Krile at the same time--that was Lyle's.

She doesn't know if she ought to tell him about it at the range tomorrow, although that would depend on whether or not she remembers it; it's starting to go hazy. But she finds herself wishing that she could have seen the little girl's face more clearly as she checks the clock and settles down to sleep again.]

[One of Lyle's dreams, Fred realizes as she wakes. The dream as a whole is rather reminiscent of the fire, with the ash falling and the pervasive smell of smoke, even if she gives little thought to that event these days.

Taking animals really do seem to be quite popular, but she hadn't thought Lyle was the type to invent something as whimsical as that. The sight of Stellaris in the dream... somewhat unexpected, especially the way he seems to be familiar with her eyes... did he like her?

Good for him, Fred thinks firmly as she makes herself comfortable again. She is determined to get a few more hours' sleep before she gives up for this night.]
