Sorry for all the swearing, but fuck it was good!wennuhpenMay 17 2012, 00:54:44 UTC
*Sobbing* I can't, I just can't. It was fucking brilliant! Mr. Glasberg, I hate you for putting all of my babies in peril, but I fiercely love you for this fucking epic ending to a fucking brilliant season. I can honestly say S9 is my favorite season to date. Great review, as usual. Worth fighting my sleep for!

These are thoughts that I have been thinking since the finale happened! Honestly, I'm still processing the finale. I too agree that GG COMPLETELY outdid himself this time. The entire episode was so fantastically put together. I also found myself thinking (when I began to actually be able to think) after the finale that there was an OVERWHELMING amount of T/Z in that ep. From what GG said, I was expecting like flirty chat in the squad room, you know, standard T/Z. I mean I totally expected (and was totally cool with) a very team-centered episode. But wow. What we ended up getting was far more than "a few moments" as GG said. The marriage talk, the fact that she wouldn't leave, that they were in the elevator and she lunged for him and he held her really close? Possibly some of the deepest, most meaningful T/Z we got all season. I really love how GG realizes how we love team episodes, but we also occasionally need some T/Z every once in a while. He has surely given me enough to last all summer. Great review! I always enjoy reading what

I really didn't feel all that much clarity while writing this lol. But I just had to get it out and sort through my own feelings with this because there was such an overwhelming amount of them. And yeah, it helped, a little. I still tear up hard every single time I look at the Ducky caps. :(
To be honest, I went in sort of 'meh' about the finale. But I'm so glad I watched it in real time at my friend's house so I had a hand to hold during the tense bits and someone to bitch about Ryan to and just generally experience it with. (I was internet chatting with a friend during the Castle finale and texting another during the last half of the Once Upon A Time finale, but it's not the same as in-person.)
Anyway, despite the bar being low in my head, I loved it. The dramatic pacing, the emotional notes, the hint of Tiva, the redemption of Cole, the Palmer/Breena stuff, all of it, I loved it. The only thing I didn't like was Ryan leaving in tears because I still think she's hinky and her leaving like that makes her more important to Gibbs and I. Did. Not. Like.
The real question now is, when do you start writing post-finale fic? Because the aftermath? The move to Quantico? I'd love to see you write that...
I went in expecting a solid action show, and I wouldn't have minded that at all. (I would, in fact, have been very content with it.) But what I got was so much more, and I'm still over the moon about that. :)

As soon as possible, even though I won't address the move and all - I'm too much of a canon whore to mess with what they'll give us there. But a few hours in an elevator never hurt anyone... okay, technically that's wrong, but you get my drift. ;)
Just realized I forgot to address the Parker thing, might as well do it here. ;)
I think most of us assumed he was a lot more kid-ish based on a) the way Ryan was shown hovering over him and b) the boat drawing she gave Gibbs one evening, because that was clearly not done by a teenager of his age. BUT I actually went back to check that out, and she says "He gave that to me when he was much younger", so no, he didn't draw this for Gibbs, but years ago.
But yeah, I'd assumed he was a kid just by the way Ryan acted about him (I completely forgot about the boat picture). Glad I'm not the only one who thought it, though. =)
Yay for getting this done today!josiefbMay 17 2012, 02:15:37 UTC
I'm with you about those who don't think this episode didn't have enough Tiva. What show were they watching? If they can't accept it's going very slowly, and it bothers them, they should just give it up. GG had me convinced it would be like Pyramid with none at all. Well played Mr. G. I've always said I want to be totally unspoiled when Tiva happens. Seems like you get that

I was way too tired last night/this morning to take in your comment, so let me come back today and say thank you. I haven't watched the earlier seasons enough/intensely enough to realize Bellisario started the rain = bad things analogy. Neat! I love that they continued that!
