I'm late in answering this, but reading my own entry and the responses a second time - I think I really need to watch that ep once more, just for the feel of it. This is the kind of show I want. THIS is the kind of storytelling that I want.
With whom do I have to sleep to get that? *ponders*
I wish they'd let them work like this, the whole season.
It had a very season 3 feel to it, with a little more 'oomph' Also, that thread on CBS you just posted in makes my head throb. I wanted to post earlier when we were like 2 pages in, to reply to one user who said something along the lines of 'she wasn't raped, she would've shown signs earlier, she's just being compassionate to get something out of the girl' and say: "Because you've been raped? And speak for rape victims everywhere?" But luckily for all our sanity, I can't remember my password.
And LOL@ at TIVA/Ziva fans (because I feel like they lump everyone into one group) being delusional, but the others with the whole "She had her badge with her!!!111"
Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't remember her badge being shown or seen.
That badge thing was the most silly argument I have ever heard, seriously. Because, yeah, sure, it would still be lying around three months after they've captured her... *rolls eyes*
I really don't get how someone can NOT see this. Then again, I don't get someone seeing Gibbs and Tony boffing like bunnies... *tries to scrub brain*
Y'know, one thing I found hilarious is that in the anti-rants they always bring up that MW supposedly said that he doesn't see the character as being in love with Ziva, therefore, he doesn't play him like that. And they yell that we should just shut up and accept the fact that there's nothing there because there isn't meant to be anything there.
Well, gee. They better stop writing that hot Tony/McGee porn then. Since both actors have stated that they don't get THAT at all... *cackles*
I too was glad to see Macy's story talked about at all. I realize they couldn't get her for NCIS:LA for some reason, but they didn't talk about her at all; it bugged me. I mean, she was the head of a pretty advanced Ops branch. (And then I watched NCIS:LA right after just to see, and they do bring it up.)
Also, Ziva's line "That could have happened anywhere. To any of us. That is the risk we take." reminded me of the episode (I can't remember the title) in season 5 when Tony found out they were supposed to have Cassidy's weekend duty and Tony's all 'that could have been us' and Gibbs goes 'that could have been us every damned day of the week.' And they (Ziva and Gibbs) the ones with the most military history, the ones trained at a young age (Gibbs had to be 18 or *maybe* 19 in those flashbacks in Stillwater) to be mission-oriented killing machines. They come to investigation from totally different directions than Abby or McGee or even Ducky (his experience in Afghanistan notwithstanding
( ... )

Yes! I think that is one reason why they understand each other so well.
And I can't comment on the Tony/Ziva moments because I have words no put into can't sentences. *gah*
You know what, I'm still not over that. And when I get to that point in my chronological re-watching (which is planned to be started sometime soon), I think it will rip me apart even worse...
These two just make me happy when they are like that. I don't get how people can say that they're not good for each other. They totally are, they just need to finally get their act together. *crosses fingers for season 8*
YES YES YES YES YES YES ON EVERYTHING. Yes. I wish I had more to say and I want to elaborate on everything you said but, honestly, you said it all SO PERFECTLY
:-)
I LOVE that 3rd photo, the one of Ziva alone. CdP is so awesome. I remember she said once in an interview that being trained for the stage she was used to doing everything so big and she had to tone it down for TV. But she's so, so good at showing so much by expression alone.
She blew me away in that ep, really. Saying so, so much with so little being actually said - that was so full of win. She managed to get across that Ziva was somehow lost in her own head in that episode, and - given her past - that may not be a good place for her to be. *sniffles*
