Just a poll to see if anyone will read a WIP or verses I am and planning to write. If you don't see an option you like, feel free to let me know what you think in the comments!
I tend to not read WIP because it's so hard to keep up with them, even if a person is on your flist. It's one of the things that I miss most about fanfiction.net.
I feel kind of the same with verses. I like them better than WIP but not if you have to read them all or else you'll feel totally lost. Then it's basically the same.
I've done/doing both. i'm posting my J² WIP, but then I also have my girl!sam fic which isn't ever getting posted until it's finished. they both have pro's and con's. because with a wip, you pretty much have to write, you can't just stop b/c then the people that read it will be pissed x]
but with a verse, you can take all the time you want with writing it and then not have to worry once it's posted. =|
I prefer not to read WIPs, except if they're already completed (and the later parts are just being beta'd, for example). But then again, those aren't real WIPs but just a fic posted in parts, right? Hmmm. *ponders* It's just - I don't like the uncertainty about reading a WIP, you know? I don't know if it's going to be finished at all, I don't know when the next part will be posted, and it just pretty much destroys the mood the fic is trying to create, you know? (I should stop ending every sentence with "you know"... -.-)
Verses, on the other hand, are totally fine with me.
I think it really depends on how often it's updated. If the author posts a chapter each week, it isn't a big problem but I find it particularly hard to remember all that happened after some weeks, especially if each chapter has a big wordcount. :/
