I had not heard of any of the things that confused Mitchell either! I was wondering whether they'd just invented Ghostwatch in the Bubble to mess with his head.

Ghostwatch was the Halloween 1992 offering from the Screen One drama strand. It was presented as a live broadcast hosted by Michael Parkinson, Sarah Green, Mike Smith and Craig Charles and was very convincingly done, right down to the graphics, wobbly camerawork, general aura of chaos and cringy interviews. So convincingly done, in fact, that it caused a minor War of the Worlds style panic among people who thought they were watching a real OB. It has never been repeated in the UK, but was released on DVD - by the BFI of all organisations - a few years back. You can watch it here, and it's well worth the hour and a half.

Oh dear, Brooker would go 'it's an important cultural television event! You must see it!' And yes, he would mock poor Mitchell so much.

Well, it actually kind of is, but I can totally see Brooker using that as an excuse to make Mitchell watch it so he can mock him *g*

It's a highly plausible excuse to get David scared and on his sofa!

That too, but I'm still edging towards the slashy thoughts on that one ;)
