Am i the only person in the world who has never read a harry potter book?

Is it worth reading them?

I have not bothered and have no intention of ever doing so. The more ludicrous hyperbole the series attracts, the more I am put off, quite frankly.

That's how I always felt. But now I'm beginning to doubt my own judgement, because my friendspage is full of 'oh wow HP - i didnt see it coming at all!', and I like things with twists that I don't see coming, because there are far too few of those around.

A far better fantasy childrens read is His Dark Materials.

Are you sure that's childrens fantasy and not adult fantasy? ;)

I'm nearly finished the 6th and have been excited about it since reading the 5th!!

It's not for everyone, but as it's just a book and not Class A drugs I'd say give it a go, you might like it!

I just like the excitement of the story and as an adult the innocence of the kids is really sweet! Some of the books I read are properly scary so I like kids' books as a bit of light relief.

I like books in series too so it's great for me. I also read the Lemony Snicket series.

*has confessed to too much*
Again!

I read the first one because my son liked it. I probably would have liked it when I was eleven too.
