After getting that NES sound module for GarageBand, I wanted to try some devamps, and Alex suggested some Advance Wars... so here are Sasha and Grit's themes, 8-bit style! The Sasha sprite is really pretty, really cute!

The sounds of your NES versions really do sound all chip-tune-y, and you can definitely hear the static! I love how you're able to do "recoloring" with sound, for tunes, the way you do it for images, with sprites.

Thanks! The older sprites were definitely more silly/cute than the newer ones (though they're pretty, or maybe that's not the right word, in a different way?).

Yeah, it's like color-limiting on sprites! Also, since I only have a few parameters to play with to try to produce as much difference in sound as possible, I'm getting a really good sense of what those parameters mean to a sound (attack, decay, sustain, release, pitch bend-- all terms I knew before, but this really lets you get to know them).
