This is lovely - thanks so much for the rec.

I loved their dialogue, and how they both remained true to themselves and their respective goals. The underlying tenderness in this was gorgeous, as was the quietly voiced prospect of a shared future.

Fanfiction-stuff aside, I also agree with this take on Castiel's choices, the tablet, and Dean from a canon-POV.

Particularly glad you like my interpretation of canon in the fic. My writing fanfic was initially, and still is a lot of the time, a way of exploring and expressing my interpretations/meta of the show almost more than it was/is about the story my fic tells, and this one was very much about examining Cas' choices and state of mind regarding the tablet (my spn fic all started out very much about exploring Cas' character... it's very very weird that I latched on to Dean's POV like I have... I really struggle to write spn fic from any POV that ISN'T Dean's, but that's by the by...).

Let's hope we are both proven correct in our assumptions about Cas' choice with the table and that the show is giving him his much needed independence! I really would rather he WASN'T simply being controlled by the tablet/metatron now :/
