also your friends keep antagonizing me so would you tell them to fuck off please if you would claim the values you do.

the guy with the racial slur in his user icon? your patience for him makes me think less of you.

that shit flies while you call me rude.

that honest to goodness offends me.

There's no rule that says you gotta like what goes on in other people's journals, or that I gotta like what's in anyone else's.

Part of the reason that I am friends with people who hold opinions that I disagree with so strongly is that I think prolonged exposure to each other (they and me) helps make us all better people over the long-term. You may not see the value in that, or you may not see the same value that I do, and that's fine. You don't have to.

I can't handle this any longer, Jesse. I'm sorry I will lose your perspective but this is too exhausting to be worth it for me, and I guess you can judge me for that (or the company I keep, or whatever else) if you like. I'm sorry that some of what was written in my journal offended you. It won't be your problem anymore though.

Josh you are of course not at all sorry about how I feel about anything that anyone said, to me or otherwise, in your journal. Come on. You chided or scolded not one other person for their conduct. After I said something rude to the rudest person on earth, who thinks it is really important that rude people not be censured or censored for being rude, it was open season on me ( ... )

Jesse, you may feel that I was talking only to you when I wrote about those posts, but I really was not. Promise. Maybe I didn't make that clear, maybe that's not what anyone gleaned from them, maybe that's my fault and I'm willing to hear that. But you're going on how *you* perceive me and my behaviour when you write that.

I very coolly and politely interacted with people in the last post of yours on the topic of boundaries for the journal - the dude with the icon that said "porch monkey" rudely instructed me not to address him, then cracked a joke about reclaiming the slur.

You're aware of the fact that that is a reference to the film "Clerks II" or no?

That dude scares me, but I didn't attack him. There is just so much going on there that I barely even want to type words in response to this. All I'll say is that it's not exactly ( ... )

Also we cannot just view different sides of the same issue as "opposites" where we are giving an equal view to all kinds of ideas by considering both.

Like pro-choice vs anti-choice being framed as one side wanting one thing and the other wanting the other. Because the pro-choice side IS the fair side allowing for multiplicity.

I am with you on this.

From a Jules Feiffer cartoon:

"I deplore the actions of extremists on both sides -- those who burn down churches and schools, and those who want to keep them open."

Yeah.

I read this post and simply wanted to comment, "You always make me think Jesse, thanks." and then I see that this is coming out of a larger context that I don't know about... but if I may say so, out of context, that I like reading your posts because you always remind me to think more.. and this post brought to mind a social networking situation of my own, about how this problem guy might be showing up on my feed, and that I should do something about it. I love it that you've just encouraged me to be INTOLERANT of him. Thank you!!!

And kira_lynn, I read your comment and was like, OH HELL YEAH! Never thought of that before! Thanks!
