My house is fixed!

Well, except for the furnace which is very loud. It makes the floor above it vibrate. So I think I'll have it looked at in a week or two, after the magazine goes to print.

England was absolutely fantastic. It rained almost every day we were there, which I understand is totally normal, so I think I've had a good taste of it. We spent a few days in Yorkshire visiting Ewan's family; I had an entire conversation with his uncle without understanding a single word he said. In about eight hours I'll be getting on a plane to England! This will be my first touristy trip there. Although I've spent a couple days (or more recently, hours) in London on my way too and from other places, I've never gotten to see the countryside. Next week the house I'm living in will be taken off the market. All the staging furniture will go away and the original furniture will come back. This means I will not only continue to have a free place to live for the foreseeable future, but will be able to make a mess again! Yay!

I can't wait to have the giant television back...

On Friday Ewan and I set out on a mission to buy explosives in St. Catherine's. Apparently this guy is the only one who imports musket-appropriate black powder into Canada. I am trying to buy a bicycle that I can ride in a skirt, and I'm trying my best to do it for $60 or less. I've expressed interest in a number of nice bikes, all of which have the requisite fender thingies that will keep mud away from my skirts.  Two observations: One, this year's General Assembly was surprisingly boring, and despite sounding like a great place to go, Sydney, Nova Scotia, closes most bars at 10 pm.

Two: I am too old to get caught up in high school social dramas.
