Update: Cat came back. Poop. Am taking it to parents' house for tonight, and then will try and find its house when I'm back on Wednesday.

Oddly enough we also had a feline visitor decide to look for nest sites in our garage and on top of the car in said garage yesterday. We were out front raking and I happen to know said cat a bit but she's a potentially half-already or soon to be abandoned cat (not out of malice I'm sure but the house is for sale and the family has several little girls and the parents are going through a messy divorce and I think they're overwhelmed by all that). Shes an indoor cat that always tried to get out... but she's out all the time now and getting less tame each time I see her...but my mom doesn't seem to be horribly against letting it adopt us if this does happen. *doesn't know whether to be hopeful or not* Such a soft kitty.

And I totally had a moment when I read this post that it was Cat that had shown up and you were trying to find a home for which made for a very confusing moment indeed.

Hmm, we *also* have had a kitty coming around our place. No collar or ear tattoo so we thought it was a stray, but it's super friendly, rubs up against you, and has gone into our house a couple of times.

I don't think a cat would play nice with LEM though.

Some bunnies and kitties and even puppies get along quite well, you'd have to be very careful introducing them though (especially considering bunnies having that scare themselves into having a heart attack thing) and it could be a problem if the cat is at all used to hunting. But LEM might just box the kitty into submission and then they could both go chew on your technology together!

I wish more cities would do the catch/fix/adopt-or-release of feral cats like I've heard some places talk about. There are so many kitties that just get abandoned and it so messes with the ecosystems not to mention the poor kitties who aren't cut out for it.

She's never had to deal with another animal, and kitties can play rough...

Yeah, our local Humane Society basically said they could do nothing. We can bring the kitty in and have it fixed, but we'd have to sign a contract saying we take responsibility for looking after the poor thing. Which seems sub-optimal.
