This weekend I was in Montreal because one of my cousins got married. As someone who is planning to get married in the near future, I found it a very useful study in what not to do at a wedding ( Read more... )

Probably August. See England post for proposal details XD

We're looking into more "modestly priced" venues at the moment, so we haven't really booked anything official, but we're aiming at Aug. 27, 2011.

And I didn't get any URL. Did you send it to my work address? 'Cause there's an industrial strength spam filter on that thing and now and then stuff doesn't get through. Give it another try.

You said you'd send me an example of what they're looking for. Unfortunately my domain expired and I is po', and also our computer decided to self destruct and I'm stuck using my iPod so I can't work on anything till next week. D:

I sent you a couple of the php files, if that's what you mean, and a description of what they're looking for. If you can make sense of the code and think you can handle it, shoot me your phone number via email and I'll pass it along to the managing editor. He can get in touch with you and explain further if necessary.

Thanks!

What are your chances of making it back to Ontario for the occasion, d'you think?

It's hard to say. If I decide to do my 5's course, chances aren't good. If I'm still on a ship and that ship isn't going anywhere, chances are pretty good.

Honestly trying to plan something that far in advance in the military is pretty much impossible. I could probably let you know a month or two in advance;;;

Totally cool. Invitations won't be going out 'til probably May anyhow, I was just curious.

Dahling, you always look fabulous~

I've only been to two weddings and they were both relatives second weddings... I don't know how that may have skewed my experience. They were pretty calm affairs.

[I do have to admit a fondness for the one Canadian reality tv wedding show. The british lady is just awesome. Wedding SOS or something? Planning and reality prevents disasters! Though that could be true of ALL reality tv...]

my thoughts on weddings:
-DJ > band. Especially considering how nerdy and archaic our tastes can be.
-put any nervous speakers first or at least before anyone who can blow the doors off the room.
-was at a wedding once where instead of clinking glasses to get the couple to kiss tables had to sing. It was kind of epic.
-apparently I make a great person to have near the speeches podium, because I laugh loudly at pretty much everything and make people relax? (it happened, it was weird)

Actually, we're considering not getting a dj. Instead we'd send out a song request sheet with each invitation. Everyone gets to request two or three songs, we put together a play list, and then we just hit play and enjoy the evening. I think that would result in a fairly eclectic mix of music, and save us about $2,000.
