Title: One to Heaven, One that Falls
Author: rustydog (LJ | DreamWidth)
Characters: Tosh, Owen, Jack
Rating: PG
Notes:Spoilers through 2x08 A Day in the Death. Written for tw100 challenge #195 E is for Evening. Prompt was Rainer Maria Rilke's poem "Evening," specifically the line "one journeying to heaven, one that falls."

Tosh lay in the dark, the hand with which she had held Owen's balled into a fist, as if she could comfort him from a distance.

Owen was dead for as long as he lived. Scared. Could Jack, alive no matter how often he died, understand Owen's position?

Jack. The maddest ideas came to her at night: could they somehow treat Owen's death with Jack's excess of life? Her heart began to pound. Surely with all their resources...

But no. She couldn't ask Jack that. Once you had something as amazing as immortality, how could you risk giving it up?
