Tosh was losing her usual positive attitude. "Is Jack certain the Luddifars will attack if we use alien tech? If only we had some fiber-optic cable, that would be something."
Owen stared. "I-may have some."
"Why didn't you list that among our assets in the first place?" Tosh grumbled.
"Give me an hour." He ran off, grinning, and eventually returned bearing a length of beautiful, shiny white rope. "Silk," he explained. "I've been breeding spiders to formulate better suture material. It isn't alien tech if it's from blended DNA, is it?"
Tosh beamed. "Owen, you're a mad scientist!"
