Title: How to Be Idle and Blessed

Notes: Written for tw100 challenge #154 Heroes Gone Fishing. Title is from Mary Oliver's poem "The Summer Day."


They were weary: too much rain, too many monsters for too long. On the first sunny June day, Jack herded the team onto a boat without explanation.

They sped over the water, and the questions soon quieted. Ianto sat serenely, Gwen gazed ahead, hair whipping, even Owen tilted his face toward the sun. Tosh watched the water's surface gleaming like inlaid enamel where the waves smoothed.

Jack cut the motor. Tosh saw him tie a blinking object to a cord and drop it into the water. He winked at her. "Enjoy the day," he said. "Nothing'll disturb us. I promise."
