"The Understanding" (Röyksopp) ... the second album from two nerdy, synthy guys in Norway, sounds just as gleaming, less otherworldly, and more danceable, than their initial "Melody A.M." release. Highlights include echoes of their old sound on "Only This Moment" and "Circuit Breaker" (the former featuring guest female vocals), and new ( Read more... )

As you watch the rest of the 12 episodes, keep in mind that Joss Whedon did not write every single episode. Also, the pilot wasn't aired until Fox cancelled the season. Go figure.

Gotcha ... but this series is my first foray into the Jossverse.

If you really pay attention, you'll be able to tell which ones were actually written by Joss Whedon.

My point is that I'm unfamiliar with his style, never having watched Buffy or Angel, etc., so even knowing which individual episodes were written and/or directed by him doesn't really affect how I feel about the series as a whole. If he's truly got the Midas touch, I suppose that will become evident in retrospect, or in context.

I'm loving "Plans", but it took me a couple listens before I felt that way about it. I think that the first track is my current favorite. The second track sounds too much like the Dandy Warhols "You Were the Last High".

You think? I'll have to give it a closer listen to see if I can hear it.

I'd like to see them live. I've never seen a DCfC video on MTV (they still play videos on MTV?).

Re Wallace & Gromit: I liked the movie overall. The one thing I didn't really care for: I don't really like that fact that all kids' movies nowadays feel that they *have* to insert a few adult jokes. It was kind of shockingly cool the first time somebody did it, but now it's just trite, and it doesn't add anything to the movie IMHO.

I would agree, except that I don't think W&G is a kids' movie with a few adult jokes. The writing is definitely geared to an adult audience of some sophistication, or at least an accomplished grasp of English.
