Dad's attending a week-long course in Portland this week and is crashing at my place, in the as-yet-largely-incomplete guest bedroom. He brought a cot and a sleeping bag with him, and shooshes my offer of taking the couch as well as my apologies for such underwhelming lodging conditions.
