a note on the first-world problems i'm having in a second-world country.

Two things are ruining my fandom enjoyment at the moment. Well really they're not even ruining the enjoyment, they're PREVENTING it. First of all: LJ is glacially slow in China. If the page loads after a full minute, I'm happy! Not... not even kidding right now. Secondly, and most devastatingly: both Mediafire and Megaupload are dead to the Chinese ( Read more... )

Yeah, it's really spotty. I have to reload pages all the time and half the time userpics and other images don't show up. It's annoying, but at least it's here. When I first got here in early 2009 it was dead entirely. So annoying~

I know it was blocked entirely in 2009, and then they unblocked it. My only theory is that the coding LJ is using to make livejournal more like facebook may be screwing with the site in general.

WHILE I AM AT IT, what kind of things are on your list? I'm heading Stateside on Monday for three weeks and I'm undoubtedly going to stock up (oh god I want the second SP movie RIGHT NOW /claws things); if we meet up in Beijing I could probably transfer stuff over/share!

This is totally random.... But if you know enough Chinese you can watch it on tudou with Chinese subs?

Given my level of Chinese vs Japanese, I would honestly rather watch a lot of stuff unsubbed. Because while my Chinese is WAY better than my Japanese in a lot of ways, I honestly understand stuff in Japanese better. BUT haha ultimately, I would prefer to watch it all with subs. Hence why I'm only watching dramas at the moment (because there's subs on d-addicts as well as torrents) ;)
