Whenever I feel nostalgic for my own country, it's usually through actual things that will trigger the memories. A more recent instance came from my dad's new bicycle, which my mom got for him for Christmas. Aww, thanks! I honestly could go into more detail, but then I feel like I'd have to write pages and pages about it =P ;)

The whole idea about making a story is from the whole "write what you know" concept...and I've got all of this stored in my brain yet I'm not too sure how to go about it (at least in a way that would be interesting and, well, story-like, rather than just a plain description of events).

It's all too fuzzy in my head right now. I hope it'll clear up soon so I can actually do something about it. :)

Make a children's story out of it! Simple sentences, a short plot, incorporate some personal experiences, and illustrate away. I bet you'd be awesome at it.
