Six Sleeps To Christmas!

It’s six sleeps to Christmas! And therefore, it is time to spread some holiday cheer, because I had a pretty great week and full excitement has just hit me this weekend. I have my pyjamas on, Christmas songs playing on YouTube, and it’s been snowing! I love Christmas time!

( Firstly, the non-NCIS-related stuff, because I’ll get all rambly on that later! )

I'm completely the same, I can never guess who the bad guy is. I make the excuse that I'm too focused on the characters or Tony's face, but really it's a total lack of observation skills! I think it's easy to get caught up in the negatives, especially when really we're pretty much watching the show really closely. So all the flaws are magnified along with the great stuff, and it's more upsetting to see because I think we really want to love our show! It might be one of the reasons that I loved the episode so much, because even though it was sometimes hard to watch Gibbs and his dad, it was so well done and affecting that for me, it made up for the plot failings! But I can be annoyingly Pollyanna, because there are flaws with the show and I'm awful for just ignoring them ( ... )

Risking my insane-Tony-fangirl reputation for a second, I actually think that although I do think Tony can be extremely compassionate, and hates seeing his team in pain or hurt, when he starts with the humour, defensive or purely to amuse, he can get a little self-centred in those moments, and he can be quite ignorant of when his humour is crossing the line for others. Or he is aware of it, but something in him just can't help but push, until he feels guilty. So that moment in Chimera was pretty cool, character-wise, for him, and then the, "Steady, Probie's stomach," and the lasting shoulder-grip, was actually completely adorable. I did say that yeah, Tony would quite if he knew how hard his humour hits McGee, on occasion, but that doesn't mean it should be entirely Tim's responsibility to point that out to him. (Also, OMG, I totally rewind and fastforward that hand moment. So slashy and cute ( ... )

The shoulder holsters go some way to distracting me entirely from anything else, but I'd love a flash of skin here and there! I do approve of his un-buttoned-ness at the moment, he's got very eye-catching chest hair! Still stuck on capping S2, and OMG he's ridiculously gorgeous in it ( ... )

Hee, no problem - and did you have a good Christmas, too? My Ben Browder crush started with Farscape, one of my favourite shows ever!

They could probably throw in a few more Kate references - I'd actually love to see them mention her now, nearly five years later, because it'd make a bit more sense. When they mentioned her directly after, it seemed like it was kind of a no-go area and that they actually hated talking about her. Which would make sense, I suppose, from Gibbs and Tony's uncommunicative POVs. I'm still capping S2, LOL, and their continuity is way better from a case view - they'll mention something that happened in the previous episode, which is so simple but kind of unusual, and doesn't happen much in the new seasons. Comfort fic is my lifeline!

My Tony-fangirl brain would completely agree with you, I'd love anyone to notice that Tony wasn't himself - but then I also think that Tony's method of hiding his inner pain is pretty effective - and I don't think any of them were really noticing anyone's pain in S6. They were ( ... )

Well I don't celebrate Christmas but I have had a nice relaxing week. I hope your holidays have been enjoyable.

I've heard mixed reviews for Farscape and having read that it was made in Australia doesn't give me much confidence, I know exactly how bad our film and television industry can be, although we do have our moments of brilliance :-)

That's a good point about the Kate references, everytime she was mentioned you could see the grief and I did love how they did that. Apparently there was a reference to her in Truth and Consequences but I didn't notice it, even when I went back looking for it. I am so looking forward to all these caps you have, you certainly know how to drag out the anticipation ( ... )

We do humour well, although it's very much an Australian sense of humour but I recommend steering away from most of our dramas or movies. (The one exception would be Blue Heelers). Ben Bowder whump is certainly tempting! I'll add it on to my list of things to watch :-)

I interpretated that reference to refer to Ziva and not Kate. Not surprising you got stuck on Chained which is full of hot Tony but don't forget about all the fantastic Tony episodes that come after it:

Was the end of s3 when DpB left or was it the end of 4? Because when he did the whole feel of the show changed. I have to saw that I think the only good thing to come out of s5 were all the Requiem fics. I can't say I really noticed them drawing together, in fact I noticed the opposite - Gibbs going off on his own in Requiem, Tony being mean to Jimmy in , Ziva's withdrawnness in Recoil and the start of McGee's jealousy issues in In The ZoneIt is hot again today although there is supposed to be cool change later on tonight. Blue Heelers? I will definitely check it out! I have to say, Australia is one of the countries that actually has a reputation for having a good sense of humour, according to most Brits - although because we're quite a self-obsessed, self-important nation, LOL, I think this assumption is mostly based on whether you "get" our comedy rather than whether we get yours. We should really have some more Australian imports on our TV though!

Ben Browder makes a very good punching bag - they really find every single way to whump him they can, I'm not sure how much whump there is in comparison to Daniel, but there's about twenty times more whump for him than there is for Tony. That's a lot of pain. :-D

If I hadn't been sneaking around the TWOP forums, I don't think I'd have thought about Kate much at all. Eep, I know, there's so much meaty and pretty stuff to go! I think that might be a reason I'm being so slow, though, I love SWAK but it's right before Twilight and then that leads to S3 and it starts getting painful ( ... )

It's a show about country cops but my sister and I both love it. It aired for ten seasons. I love British humour, especially the classics form the 60s/70s. Us Aussies like to think we have a good sense of humour but when we try to export it, it doesn't seem to translate well (in America at least).

Well Daniel is whumped on average every 3rd episode which isn't too bad ;-) I'm not really a fan of Cameron Mitchell whumo but that's because I usually wish it was Daniel getting it so if he was out of the picture I think I could very easily love Bowder whump. *g*

Season 3 is my favourite season so I don't quite see your hesitation. There's so much lovely Tony!whump in it, not to mention MW looking rather hot for the whole season.

I notice a difference after s4, not just in the story line but also in the quality of the editing and filming. I really wish MH hadn't created a fuss. I need to rewatch s5 (and s6) again and few it from the perspective of our discussion. Stakeout was the first ep after the writers strick. I want if that break ( ... )

I'll definitely be checking it out! I remember my mum used to be totally obsessed with Flying Doctors. We like to think we're absolutely hilarious, and some of our comedy is so funny it hurts, but then we also have some utter shite on too! Outnumbered is one of the cutest, funniest things on at the moment over here.

I think once you've got a favourite whumpee in a show, it's hard not to just want them whumped. I'm not particularly proud of it, but if anyone in NCIS suffered a major injury and it wasn't Tony, I'd probably get a little bit huffy. I was okay with Gibbs being the one in the explosion, but if they ever do the typical crime procedural ZOMG one of them is going to be badly hurt, it would make me extremely happy if it was Tony. And he recovered prettily, of course, but still. I'm pretty sure that if the showrunners do follow even the tiniest portion of fandom, the preference for Tony whump would be obvious!

You're right, there are so many episodes in S3 that I love, but it all leads up to Hiatus, which just upsets me. Well ( ... )

Oh yeah, the last time he was shot was what Boxed In? Far too long ago :-) My problem is that while at least I'm coming up with ideas now, I still really struggle to get it down in words. I can picture the scene well in my head but to translate it into something that is worth reading is difficult for me. I'm much better writing essays and reports where I have to present facts or argue something. So much easier. But I do love reading. And I would worry about it coming across as self indolgent if you torture Tony. The rest of us also like reading it ( ... )

That's way, way too long ago. S3! I know he's been knocked out since then, but still. I prefer more than once a season! Maybe you could try writing it in script-form first, if that makes sense? Just dialogue and brief description, just to get it down on the page, before you worry about making it into a story? I hate getting hung up on sentence structure, but I often do - and I find it much easier to write essays too, because the planning somehow feels easier and then I can follow the structure, whereas with fic I tend to go off on tangents all over the place! I'm definitely working up to whumping him properly, but so far it hasn't really happened!

Ooh, all really good episodes! Mine do chop and change quite a lot, in order too, but in chronological order I'm going to go for Minimum Security, Heartbreak, SWAK, Undercovers, Frame-Up, Bait, Witch Hunt, Friends and Lovers, Grace Period, and Faith. I love Paula, obviously, and Tony's Halloween story, I have watched the last five minutes of Friends and Lovers more than any other bit of ( ... )
