Let's be honest: it's not European shows that I don't watch, as Italian television, in particular.
Realities and the likes? As trashy as a Vegas themed hotel on the stip.
Cultural programs and documentaries? After midnight- and if they aren't, and happen to be prime time? reruns of reruns.

This show looks like fun. :D I wish it was easier to get subtitles for European shows here; I love the ones I can see and understand.

I wouldn't know what to suggest in Spanish, as currently, there are a lot of soap-opera from Spain in Italy, but as it's not my kind of show, I don't follow them; as for French, I suggest a show called "Cherif", which is about the namesake inspector. If you liked THe Meantalist, you'd like that too- there's alchemy and (not so much) hidden and unexplored feelings between Cherif and his partner, Adeline; he likes to interrogate suspects and people before a cup of tea and he drives a vintage car. Only difference is, it's Adeline the one with a dark and mysterious tragedy in her past- her brother's suicide that she then discovers have been a cover-up to his homicide.
German, german, german.... There's really so much, but they do really good crime shows, though :)
