Happy to be of service-the whole thing is a masterpiece of shuddersome poetic eloquence infusing lived experience.

I can personally attest that Hurricane Ike (September 2008) would have been better named Inigo-because nobody here in Ohio was expecting the Spanish Inquisition. We’re old hands at dealing with tornadoes, but those are swift, short-lived, and narrowly focused in their destructive power (the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes were so devastating because they came in an unrelenting conga line-some areas were hit by up to 21.) Not so hurricanes: the breadth of the damage is how we got absolutely blindsided-that and the axiom that Hurricanes Are The One Thing That Does Not Happen This Far North And Inland.

Indeed: a simultaneous PSA, regional trench poem, and paean to the vast indifferent power of Nature.
