So I searched Google for the wealthiest people in Mumbai, and when that didn't yield much, for the wealthiest people in India. Here is a link to the top 5

My previous comment was marked as spam, so I don't know if you'll see it. But essentially I googled to find out who are the richest people in India, then searched by name for photos of their homes.

So, the answer here is going to depend (like almost everything in India) on a number of things -- when they became wealthy, how they got their money, what ethnic/religious/social group they came from, how strongly tied to that group they are and how socially conservative they are. Depending on those things you could be looking at anything from a large joint-family compound to a very modern style penthouse apartment.

tl;dr, there really is no one answer to this question.

I wish I could be more specific, but the source material doesn't offer much :(
The actor playing the character is Muslim, but the source material strongly suggests the character to be Hindu, but that's pretty much all.
I'm not entirely sure whether his family was already wealthy, but the company his father owned was founded in the early '70s, and dealt mostly with telecommunications.
He himself seems to be pretty open minded, so I'm guessing he must come from a family with a similar mindset; but I don't want to just cut off his origins and culture entirely. Sadly I'm pretty much having to work blindly /o\
