This site has meanings for all the cards, including when they are upside down (Reversed):

http://www. paranormality .com/ tarot_meanings. shtml

Remove the extra spaces; I just didn't want to risk the comment getting marked as spam. The Devil Reversed is pretty bad. I'm sure you can find some more bad meanings in the Suit cards as well.

Tarot cards are not usually drawn one at a time to do a reading, though. Usually you pick a spread and read the cards how they fall in the spread. The Celtic Cross spread might be a good one to use because it talks about the future and present situation a great deal. You can read about this spread and see a picture of what the cards look like in this spread here:

So you can see how a card can turn up in the reading upside down - you lay them face down and turn them over one at a time in the order the spread dictates.

When I got Three of Swords in a reading, I was told I had a secret. A few weeks later, with the help of my therapist, I figured out my sister had been abusing me all our lives and this was not "normal sibling rivalry".

Oh dear, I'm really sorry to hear that...

I'll keep Three of Swords in mind!

Eight, Nine, and Ten of Swords are pretty awful, too. Normally I don't take any of the the major arcana too badly, but if I saw the Tower and the Devil and Death and these Swords cards plus, maybe, Five of Wands, Five of Pentacles, and some of what alexisjane described above, it's hard not to think apocalyptic ruin.

Apocalyptic ruin is exactly what I'm going for, so I may use exactly those. Thanks!!

Four of coins means greed.
five of coins means trouble.

Ten of wands indicated overburdening.

Four of cups indicates boredom.
Five of cups, dashed hopes.

Thanks for this! (Now I want to do readings for some of the other characters - those cards would definitely be getting a lot of play!)
