Might be worth noting that UK soldiers killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan between 2007 and 2011 were flown back to this country via RAF Lyneham and then driven to Oxford via Royal Wootton Bassett.
At the time this began the town was just called Wootton Bassett, but the respect they showed to the returning coffins by way of spontaneous gatherings on the route through the town led to the Queen granting them the appellation "Royal".
I know you said not news reports, but this report gives a pretty detailed description of a military funeral in 2010 for a young soldier killed in Afghanistan:
