Sex in Pregnancy from a Male Perspective

May 27, 2014 13:19

My character, a cis-male in his 50s, has very happy memories of sexual intimacy with his former partner during her pregnancies.  I want to give him some very specific intimate details to recall about how he experienced the changes to her body - not just the more obvious changes of size, or position, or mood but scent, colour, touch, temperature, ( Read more... )

There's more discharge and if it's near the end of her pregnancy, he may see the mucus plug (whitish goo). There's more blood in her vaginal tissues and therefore, more intensity or sensitivity to sensation. She may be more randy. I wouldn't be surprised if taste/temp/scent changed given the change in hormones. Sorry if you've already read all this!

Thank you - this is exactly sort of extra perspective I was looking for; I've read about the mucus plug, usually as reassurance that sex won't injure the foetus, but not how visible it might be, colour or texture.

There's a lot of variation, but from memory, hotter all over, very sensitive breasts (both good and bad), araeolae getting larger and darker brown from around 3 months, cervix being firmer and more fixed in place, skin from below the breasts down towards the pubis all becoming firm rather than squishy if she had squishy bits to start with, a linea nigra forming (line of soft dark hair from the navel down to the pubic hair, from around 5 months). Relaxin making her more bendy and able to hold legs apart/up more easily, though bump starting to get in the way. Possible huge sex drive especially in 2nd trimester. Different scent also possible - like sleeping with a different woman without the mental hassle of being a different person.

Thank you - the firmness and fixity is very interesting, as is the increased flexibility.

My husband has noticed a couple things:
1) my vaginal temperature seems much higher- hot to the touch.
2) my nipples are "bumpier" in texture

He's never mentioned anything else, but I'll ask him later.

Thank you both - wonderfully tactile detail.

Thank you - Would this apply to body hair as well? I know that there can be increased hair growth on the abdomen and chest, but does armpit and pubic hair change in texture or quantity?

My body hair is definitely growing faster, but I don't notice that it's thicker (nor do I notice it's thicker on top of my head) and my husband insists he doesn't notice. I have very fine/little amounts of body hair to begin with.

Oh, and I don't see that anyone has noticed increased breast fullness or stretch marks, which are two of the more noticeable signs of pregnancy (besides the bigger rounder belly of course). My breasts increased by 2 cup sizes in the first 3 months, and at about 5.5 months stretch marks started to appear. Also, at some point the baby's movements are going to start to be noticeable in the heat of the moment - I"m not sure when exactly that will happen as it hasn't happened to me yet at 24 weeks!

I have friends who suffered hair loss during pregnancy (on their heads). They were looking forward to the end of their terms, as you can imagine. I also wanted to add, related to body hair, that after a certain point, it'd be difficult for her to shave, wax, etc. with belly in the way. So either she sees a salonist, he helps her, or she's au naturel, lol.
