US Military Family Plan Emergency

My character is a single parent in the US Marines. I'm aware she has to have a family plan with a primary and a back-up care taker. In this scenario, both fail, she is currently deployed and she has no one that she can just call up to handle the situation. 1. Judging by my friend's experience, she could apply for emergency leave but didn't get it until 10 days later due to the situation where she was.

No idea about 2, sorry, but if she had to use emergency leave to deal with it (and there was not a good reason like "plan and back-up plan died in the same car crash"), I expect it would not reflect well on her.

thanks, the timeline helps and yeah, I figured it wouldn't be good, just not sure if it'd be something like an official black mark or sort of an unofficial one.

As with any kind of error and discipline in the US military, it depends on her relationship with her command. If she's a stand-up soldier well liked by everyone including her command, it could be nothing and she have no problems. If her chain is populated by misogynists or she's a chronic problem, she could get article 15'd or given shitty duty or get her leave denied or something.
