Electricity in Rural England

Hey all. I'm tentatively plotting a story that takes place in a village in England's West Country. Precise location in the West Country doesn't really matter at this point, as I'm hoping to keep it as vague as possible, but I am trying to find out when electricity started getting introduced across the region. I googled ' electricity introduced rural britain' and got some info that points to a parliamentary question on this topic in about 1946.

Yeah, that is more about the patching together local grids into the national one. The trouble I have is that the time period I was looking at mostly pre-dates the national grid. Thank you though.

There's actually going to be a symposium on "The electrification of rural England, 1890-1970" on Sat, March 9th at Leeds Trinity College. http://events.history.ac.uk/event/show/6939. It's apparently open to the public, if you're nearby. If you're not, the listed contact for the event is Prof Karen Sayer, k.sayer@leedstrinity.ac.uk. As she's a professor, I'm sure you could get her to share some knowledge with you.
