Make sure they used household bleach and not commercial bleach - I live in a dairying area and every few years a toddler drinks dairy cleaning bleach and often dies because it burns huge holes in their oesophagus, stomach and sometimes lungs and windpipe on the way down.

How awful! :( Thanks for the info, though. I'd actually intended for it to be higher concentration than typical household stuff, as M is involved with a medical facility, so it'd be available. But if the effect is that intense, it'd probably have to be more diluted.

Earlier this year a friend of mine couldn't taste anything for weeks all of a sudden. The doctor told her it was due to stress and it might come back, or might not (it did). Torture certainly would cause quite a loss of stress. Doesn't sound very dramatic, though, and I imagine it might sound unbelievable. But apparently it's possible to loose your taste this way.

Wow, I didn't know that stress could be a cause. That gives me a lot of ideas, though. The loss of taste might be partially do to the initial physical cause and partially psychosomatic due to stress and trauma. Stress is one constant factor over the five year gap so I think it could work. Thanks for the info!
