1970's Russian Physics

I am working on a background for a new RPG character. I have some flexibility in dates, but I am a bit confused and am trying to map everything out. My character is a female scientist who specializes in plasma physics. Her power armor is powered by a Tokamak Reactor. The timeline given by jgofri and next_friday is correct. If she was born in 1952, the earliest she would've gotten to the point of actually doing research and possibly working with Artsimovich is 1974-5 (when he was dead already).

Judging by the articles I've read just now, by mid-sixties Artsimovich did give some lectures and participated in seminars, but they were geared towards young research scientists, not students. Besides, going to work with Artsimovich was an honor and people were carefully selected for that, so you had to prove yourself first - in research, of course.
