There's a specific name for the type of ceiling where it's like a four-way intersection between arches (( picture )

Groin vault or cross vault?

Or possibly Rib vault.

It was very popular during the Gothic period and according to wikipedia and resembles the groin vault.

To the OP - if you know which building your picture is from you could probably figure out which of the two it is :D

ETA - Also unless you're going to have a character who is an expert use the term I think most people would just call it a vault or vaulted ceiling.

Groin vault I think is what I was thinking of, and the one in the picture is probably a rib vault because it's got the gothic-arch shape. Thanks, guys.
