I'm inclined to doubt that they'd actually go out for a day's hunting from Westminster; for it really to be worthwhile they wouldn't want to travel more than five miles, if that, and the area around London and Westminster was heavily agricultural (sheep in what is now Hyde Park, for example). What was more usual was for the king to go off and stay at one of his other properties, using it as a hunting lodge. The nearest good place I can think of is what is now Richmond Park. There are still deer there.
Alas, it's got to be Westminster; a series of stories linked to the Jewel Tower, and I've already posted the background fanfic (for which I'll admit to not doing as much research as I might have done.) But he's an energetic man and quite capable of dragging others off on a mad enterprise. Richmond looks like an excellent possibility; thank-you!
i have to ask - is this fanfic for a book or a show? and which king? 1400s, would this be Edward IV or one of the Henrys?
oh and on "Time Travellers Guide" don't forget it's focusing on 1300-1400, so the later you move through the 1400s, the less accurate it will be on some details. Though it's still a massively useful book.
Branagh's Henry V. I go, hmm, a little off-canon at times. But I like to get the background right, not that accuracy ever worried Shakespeare. And Edward IV would certainly answer to 'energetic and capable of dragging people off' too!
Time Traveller's Guide really is massively useful, and I've found The Fears of Henry IV and 1415 extremely helpful too. Ian Mortimer is a once-in-a-generation historian.
