He'd be required to stay in the dorms, yes. I believe there are some restrictions on your movements for the first few weeks, and then you can leave from 5 pm to midnight and on weekends. He probably wouldn't *want* to leave during the week, though-- there's a ton of homework and they have get up insanely early.

Ooh, great resource, although it looks like a lot of people are pulling their posts due to TPTB warning them it's a fire-able offense to post certain things. Better print off some of those pages quick! Darn those suits and their hair-triggers.

Hmm, not sure about the FBI, but back in the 1980's when I was married and going through basic training and tech school (which the FBI Academy is very like), my husband couldn't join me for basic, but he could for tech school. We rented a trailer and I was authorized to live off base.

And assignments are flexible - some agents get assigned right out of training, some have a small wait depending on their training and intended field. I've known analysts who have already started their assignments for up to a year before they got around to going to Quantico.
