The book 'Nathaniel's Nutmeg' is a very readable account of the English attempts to colonise the Spice Islands and hold them despite the efforts of the Spanish/Portuguese/Dutch/anyone else, and includes lots of quotes from primary sources describing voyages around the world, at which point different foods ran out, and when the crew started having symptoms of scurvy and dying of various things. Includes the guy who first took lemons on a ship but was then ignored for years.

Mostly takes place in the 1600s.

No timetable for the onset of the disease, but James Lind's account of treating it says the guys given citrus fruit recovered in about six days.

This exercise is of average difficulty and is 1 of
the very best inside your arsenal of very good ab workouts, as it may also do wonders for your legs.
Are you starting to see why I use harsh language when I name this
exercise. The makers of the Ab Sonic Electric
Ab Belt promise that their electromagnetic stimulation (EMS) device is
a replacement for sit-ups and that it will provide faster results.

I am currently fighting scurvy and Rickets. I am vitamin deficient, b12, B, C, D. I eat healthy as healthy can be, buy most my groceries from the Amish, meats select cut. So this was a huge surprise and has been a huge struggle, I am in intense and constant pain, extremely tired all the time, started having seizures, my bladder was shutting down, problems breathing and constantly confused. I was misdiagnosed so I have struggled over the past year and was told I was over sympathizing my pain and faking my issues. Believe it or not I was sent to a pain doctor for "pain management". He said I'm going to run a vitamin panel on you to check your levels. He said, I do it on all my patients. A few days later they got my results back and found my vitamin b12, C, d, were all within in 5-6 units away from me not having any, I was vitamin deficient. He said it was one of the worst cases he ever saw. I'm on huge masses of vitamins a day, it's not a quick fix and the symptoms still remain. The damage to my bladder, lungs and seizures are ( ... )
