Research: "historical buildings in Venice" "administrative/ noble buildings in Venice" "important buildings in Venice"

Question and context: I'm writing an Assassin's Creed 2 fic that involves breaking into a heavily guarded building in order to do an assassination.

The Doge's Palace is the first thing that springs to mind.

What about Palazzo Mocenigo of the Mocenigo family? It was already built in 1500, and it was the main palace of an influent and rich noble family.

The prisons were my first thought, but perhaps it's because it was on a show about Venice last night and how difficult it was to break out of.

I'd say the Doge's palace would be a good bet. It was notorious for its high security.

I might try looking up tours of Venice or a Venice Tourism Board. They are bound to list what stops their tours have, and then you can google the individual names of the buildings and find one with a history you like. After hours it's sure to have decent security, especially if there is a lot of art or historical value (or both).
