When is this? Because I'm guessing that the view today would be a lot different than the one a hundred years ago.

And if you're going recent, have you tried google maps?

Ah, good point. Within the last 10 years, though I'm trying to avoid tying it too closely to a specific date.

I just checked google maps, but the resolution craps out before I can get close enough, and there doesn't appear to be street view for Kolomyya.

I have never been to Kolomyya, but the windows of almost every train I have been on in the Ukraine were filthy. It can actually be pretty difficult to see out of them sometimes.

Probably doesn't matter to your story, but just thought I would mention it.

Actually, that is relevant; the line in question is intended to sketch out the setting, so if my main character can't see out the window then she can't very well be describing the view.

The community rules say you're supposed to have a descriptive subject header for your post. Something like "Kolomyya, Ukraine from a train" or "Description of Kolomyya"
