I want to apologize, in advance, for this.

"I want to tell you all a story
'bout a man named Charlie
On a tragic and fateful day.
He put ten cents in his pocket,
Kissed his wife and family,
Went to ride on the MTA.

(chorus)
But did he ever return?
No, he never returned.
And his fate is still unlearned.
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston,
He's the man who never returned."

What years are you talking about? Because the train/trolley system was a lot more extensive before GM/Standard Oil went after the trolley systems and the buses came in. I used to work on Columbus Avenue/Seaver Street (just up from where the Egleston station had been on the old orange line), and when they put in the sewer line on that street they had to rip up the old tracks and trackbed that had been hidden under the asphalt first.

Jamaica Plain also still has visible tracks from the E line, afaik, but most of the ones in town got buried in the same way, and have probably been pulled out for the same reason.

For "A" line, from roughly 1930s to its close, which if I'm not mistaken, was right around 1969. If the photo I have is correct, it was already up and running by the 1910s...

In terms of the orange line, I'm not looking for years per say, but rather some information on the original route. I know some of the tracks have been torn or covered, and I'd like to know whereabouts in the city those tracks were. I am familiar with the E line, as I used to go out that way quite a bit.

Mostly, I'm just trying to find abandoned subway stations, so any information there would be helpful, and as for North Station, if my previous research was correct, the current station is the 3rd one (at least?), and I remember hearing you could still see the original station from the one in use previously aboveground...

Granted, my sources might be wrongm but if they are right!, I'd like to know when and why that 1st station was "abandoned."

Thanks!

Yes, as rabidsamfam requested, please include which years you're interested in. I'm very familiar with the area and can get you info, but it would help to have a sense of what exactly you want the info for and the span of years you're talking about.
