*laughs* i probably should have mentioned that thaumic energy/particles is a fictional thing i'm using in my nano. it's kind of like the discworld variant, i think -- it's been awhile since i read anything with UU or the wizards in it. except i don't think any of my sub-thaumic particles is named after a flavor. ^_^

what i was trying to get at is that, following that old chestnut about conservation of energy, thaumic energy is generated by converting another type of energy, but i can work with a hitherto-undiscovered energy particle so it always existed and nobody knew it was there as opposed to converting it from, say, electricity. maybe something like ki or chakra flow -- drain too much of it and your body goes haywire in the ways mentioned above.

oh, one more question. if a lack of neurotransmitter was detected somehow, would an injection of said neurotransmitter in the appropriate place help revive/kick-start things into working properly before damage was done?
