And is it realistic that someone could throw up instead of get a diarrhea from food poisoning?

Can't help with the others but this one, absolutely. Most everyone I know who's had food poisoning has spent the night puking their guts up rather than the other way around.

In re: dehydration: My lips were incredibly chapped and I felt like my skin was very tight, very dry, but I didn't actually feel thirsty, because I'd been throwing up everything. Mostly people just kept telling me to drink, and I would go "It's not working!" at them, but when I was starting to feel better I would be thirsty again.

I looked a lot of places, but was confused by the fact that most people I know who have had food poisoning have thrown up while the internet claims diarrhea is most common, so I just wanted a second opinion on that one.

Food poisoning: yep. I got it once and was going at both ends. Simultaneously. The logistics there were pretty crazy, lemme just tell you. Never, ever eat seafood in a country where you don't speak the language.

If I remember correctly food poisoning is diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. Theyd be pretty dehydrated.
