i'm happy to be able to help. i hope that she will stop now, but considering that she was already disregarding your wishes, i'm afraid it's not a given. :(
*ditto* to what kittylefish says. I haven't belonged to Potter Place for yolks because it just isn't somewhere I want to be. If memory serves me right, Southernwitch is the Mod/leader over there.
Thanks, Sav! I've messaged Southern, so fingers crossed she can do something about it. I've left a post about it at Potter Place, too, and if people could pop along and show some support to the message I just left there I would be VERY grateful!
YOU, my dear, are more than welcome to a copy, because you are a friend and I trust you.
If I was going to edit it, I would remove at least a quarter of the content and 99% of the COMPLETELY unnecessary adverbs. Alas, you'll be stuck with them, and without the added wisdom of MsTree's edits. ;)
I'm a member there, though I haven't read or participated in the group in a very long time. For what it's worth, I've just posted my support for you over there. I hope that Ms. Tree and the others involved will see reason on the matter.
I have to agree with Shiv that this is likely not the end of people passing around copies of Denial. But it's one thing to send it quietly to a friend and quite another to offer to distribute it to anyone reading a group list.
I'm not even going to get into the editing ... cheek indeed!
Paya, thanks so much! I received your message and replied, although the reply didn't show up for some reason.
And no, I don't mind people having copies, or passing around a few to adult friends. But to distribute it publicly and edit it without my permission is upsetting!
Hard copies? As in printed copies? Like you said in the comments, I think the editing part is the most galling of it all. Maybe you can't control that person distributing your story, but I hope her editing is limited to paragraph breaks and such. *hugs*

i don't belong to it anymore, so i was unaware of this distressing situation, though i'd heard rumblings something was going on. :( hope that helps.

My agent is NOT going to be happy about this!

And on a practical note you just can't stop it. Once something is on the internet you have lost control and your agent should understand this

But don't tell your agent. You did as she asked you and now it it out of your hands.

In a way, it's flattering that people miss Denial and still want to read it!

I honestly might not have minded if she had ASKED. But to just go and offer it to all and sundry? And to EDIT it? Ack!
