I AM SHOCKED.

completely and utterly shocked.

after a week in the laurel highlands, staying at state parks and forests...utilizing their services. APPRECIATING and loving every minute of being in the highlands...
i was advised of this today:

At this point, I'm pretty sure it's only temporary. Nearly all non-essential commonwealth functions were put on hold today. They said on the radio this morning that the spotlights that illuminate the capital were shut off, for example, and the DMV offices were closed for driving exams. (Oh, shit! I hope I can still get my license plates!!) I hear that the legislature needed to settle the budget today because it was the last day in the session until September, but I haven't looked that up to check my facts.

I wouldn't worry about permanent closure at this point, but if the politicians don't get their act together soon ... I don't want to think about what could happen, not just to the parks, either.

I just found this. Apparently, they did reach a budget agreement late in the day today.

it is still so very upsetting to see how our fucking ECONOMY can literally close nature.
it is insane.
