I just had a surprisingly good day.

My grade eights were tackling e.e. cummings, and that's no small feat. One of the girls asked if she could keep a copy of [i carry your heart with me(i carry it in] , and I think I nearly died from joy. That is so exciting. I know how much I love watching younger ones coming up, learning, growing, and stretching so full, and I give a certain awesome teacher some credit too. :hugs:

It IS! I adore watching these guys when they start to GET it. When they find something, cling to it, and either run with it or wrestle with it as hard as they can. It's one of those reminders of why I do what I do.

Now to just hold on to the feeling, and to keep the little monsters (I say this with utmost affection, truly) on this path. I'm getting them to write poetry tomorrow; we'll see how that goes.
