Stranded in Outerworld 1.0 - A Post-Apocalyptic Legacy

It's been a while now that I haven't been simming; I just haven't felt inspired. Some of you may remember my BACC which has frankly gotten a bit out of hand with all the new families added and just too high-maintenance for me at the moment. I'm not saying I'm getting rid of it, but for now I felt like going "back to basics" and trying out a good old fashioned legacy challenge. No fuss, no muss, just for fun and see where I end up with it. Later on I might end up adding a few mini-challenges to the mix, just to spice things up.
The founder is my own Sim, but all the townies are pixel_trade Sims collected by me for the purpose; I wanted more variety in genetics and to push myself out of my comfort zone; I tend to be a little...too cautious when it comes to facial sculpts and my Sims end up looking too generic in the end. Well, no more!
Now...to begin, but first a little backstory:
Once a tourist paradise, this tiny island has been cut off from the mainland when the apocalypse engulfed the world, in time all but forgotten, a myth. Its original name lost, it has become known as Outerworld, the Land Beyond the Sea some hoped had remained untouched by the utter devastation which reigns everywhere else. Some sought to find it, and boarded a derelict ship bound in its direction.
They found Outerworld alright...but not the lush paradise they had been hoping for, for the island proved to be just as dead and desolate as everything else.
Even worse, they became stranded there when their crippled ship ran aground, its engines damaged beyond repair...
*cue dramatic music*
Kate Murray was one of the survivors from the ship; she made her way to shore and sought shelter in one of the few remaining buildings on the island, an old, deserted brick house.
One might not guess it simply by looking at her, but Kate is a scientist: pragmatic and resolute, she immediately realized that Outerworld was her life now, and she had better make the best of it. There was, after all, no going back...
Kate cautiously made her way into the deserted building, stirring up dust as she went: there was virtually no furniture left, and the place looked as though untouched in many years...
In the corner of one of the rooms Kate found a mattress, which she eyed disdainfully: well, at least she wouldn't have to sleep directly on the floor. ..
An old fridge and stove, together with a counter, still occupied the old kitchen.
Kate: "You call this a kitchen? There isn't even a sink for Chrissake! Or a chair to sit on while eating!"
....be glad you have any food at all.
As for the rest of the house...only empty, echoing rooms.
Speaking of food, Kate went on to sample the contents of the ancient fridge...uhhh I'd be careful with that milk, if I were you.
But then...
Kate: "Oooh! (old, stale) Cookies!" :D
Beggars can't be choosers, I guess.
Kate's fellow survivors/neighbors then decided to show up; first was xbeccyx 's Ship! :D
Ship: "I salute you, my fellow castaway!"
And a girlie I don't remember who I got her from :/ I call her Eleanor.
Eleanor *super-grin*: "What a wonderful day to be alive! We are truly blessed, are we not?!"
Kate: "Uhh...unless you haven't noticed, this place is NOT what we thought it would be..."
While Ship's sparkling enthusiasm didn't falter; storm clouds seemed to be gathering on the Eleanor front. More on that later.
Kate: "WTF, not only am I stuck on this rock, but I have two wackos for neighbors!"
And the said wackos proceeded to flirt with eachother, thanks to ACR. Kate simply looked smug. Er...Kate? You do realize you're the legacy founder here, right?
Kate: "Mark my words, she shall murder him in his sleep."
OSHIT. Perhaps that wasn't too far off the mark. :O
Kate senses something is amiss...
...when the sky suddenly darkens, there is a flash of lightning and the lamentations of a thousand tormented souls can be heard...
AIIIIEEEEE!
Ahem...
...Back to our scheduled program, alfredaskew 's Madden showed up! And Kate had chemistry with someone, for a change...
Madden: "Hey Kate, how about a friendly game of football?"
Kate *yawn*: "Football, really? Because if that's your idea of fun, I have to tell you something..."
Madden: "Well if nothing else, I can towel you off..."
Kate *amused, strangely intrigued* : "Really, dude? That's terrible."

....Okay. Geez.
