I've been wanting to check this book out, since I enjoyed one of Gaiman's other books. (NEVERWHERE, to be exact. I felt the same about it as you did about STARDUST--good, but not a favorite.)
LOL at the weather comment! I have a feeling I'd enjoy him writing about that, too. :P
I think it's special with Gaiman, because so many people just go crazy over his writing that at least I started reading his books with incredibly high expectations. Of course it's impossible to fulfill them and I guess that's why my reaction wasn't as overwhelmed as expected. I had the same experience with Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett, for instance. However, once I stopped thinking about the authors and got into the stories, I learned to enjoy them.
...Apparently I still ramble with the best of them ;)
