I considered that tattoo (The Eld Sigul)for a while, though I may end up getting the Big Coffin Hunter one instead, only because the Eld one doesn't fit well into my other ideas
Things I wish I had known before getting my foot tattoothewordfairyAugust 13 2008, 01:59:48 UTC
- Be prepared for serious serious pain. It made my spine tattoo seem like a joke.
- Arrange your life so that you do NOT have to wear shoes that touch it for at least a month. I went two months with flip flops that didn't touch it, and another month with shoes that I could take off for most of the day at work. I didn't manage socks for almost 4 months. This is just me, you may have a far easier time of it!
- Have someone else drive you to your touch up appointments. Your body has no time to begin producing endorphins when the touch up is being done, and it is excruciating.
- Did I mention don't wear shoes that cover it? I timed my tattoo in late summer so that I was able to get away with flip flops and/or sandals for months after.
- Be stubborn. Just be sure because you are going to invest more in the pain and care of this tattoo that probably any other you'll ever get.
I just got mine done on Saturday and I had a completely different experience than most others who get foot tattoos.
1. It did not hurt at all for me, though it wasn't nearly as big or detailed as others, but I can compare it being scratched lightly by a safety pin.
2. My feet did not swell at all and I've had no problems walking afterward.
3. It's only been four days and it's already beginning to heal a bit.
Now the shoe thing is important. It's really really difficult to find shoes that don't touch my tattoo. Plus, you're not supposed to expose your tattoo to direct sunlight, so have fun going outside and accomplishing those two tasks.

I'm pretty stubborn, I'm not changing my mind about it.
Anything I should know going into it?

But I agree about wearing shoes that don't rub it for as long as possible so it has the best chance of healing cleanly.
