(no subject)
hello all. tattoo noob here.
I'm getting a tattoo as soon as I get all of my money saved up. I have been contemplating a text tattoo lately. And since I am forever in love with Pablo Neruda's poetry, I would love a line or two permanently etched into my being.
I know there's a lot of differing opinions on translating text from the original language in tattoos, but whatever I choose, I'm getting it in English. They strike a chord in me in the language I can understand easier. I know some Spanish, but not enough to really get the same feeling.
In Extravagario and I have found quite a few poems that could be broken up easily, while still giving me the general gut-punch of Neruda.
my favorites so far:
- we will rise and suffer/ we will feel and rejoice
-there is no space wider than that of grief/ there is no universe like that which bleeds
-I saw, I saw, and seeing: I came to life
-perhaps we will not be so crazy/ perhaps we will not be so wise
((opinions welcome on these, I'm pretty easy-going.))
Here is my dilemma: I have a thing where I want my tattoos to be for myself, which means I want to be able to see them on a regular basis, without involving a mirror or crazy contortions. Maybe after my first tattoo or two, I will be able to live without seeing them. But for a first thing, I want to be able to look at it, and go "here. i did this. it's on me forever. it will not cease to exist."
I'm mostly thinking about hip/low-low abdomen placement probably. Wrists if I am feeling particularly daring. But I'd love some fresh input and ideas, especially from people that know more than I do!
And also, maybe font/script suggestions? The popular idea seems to be having the artist do their own font, which I can definitely get behind. But does anyone have a favorite font they like to use?
