Curious...

I have so many ideas for a literary inspired tattoo but so little space on a body. So I figured I'd ask.

Does anyone here have any Rumi inspired tattoos or Pablo Neruda inspired tattoos? Also would be interested in seeing Craig Thompson, Paulo Coelho, or Nicole Krauss inspired tattoos.

paulo coelho, rumi, pablo neruda, craig thompson, nicole krauss

What do you plan on doing? I was considering either:

deny me bread, air,
light, spring,
but never your laughter
for I would die.

or

I awoke and at times birds fled and migrated
that had been sleeping in your soul

i am going to get this (but in spanish) in what little space i have left on my right arm and most likely in a typewriter style font:

i love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
i love you simply, without problems or pride:i love you in this way because i don't know any other way of loving.

i love that sonnet... i had been thinking about that as a tattoo (first one) as well, though it's so lovely it's hard to pick out a verse in it.

I don't have it, but for years I wanted to get this:

Forget safety.
Live where you fear to live.
Destroy your reputation.
Be notorious.

Which is Rumi.

I love this one too. I was considering

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there

or

Now I am sober and there's only the hangover and the memory of love

or

Look at Love
how it tangles
with the one fallen in love

I'm taking a Spanish poetry course this semester (so excited), so hopefully there will be a little Neruda in my future.

I also hope so, for your enjoyment/enrichment! Thats wonderful. I wish I was better acquainted with spanish, that I might be able to read them in their native language.

oh you should! so many things are lost/picked up in translation. I don't think I could ever get a tattoo of translation of anything originally in another language, but then I"m a spanish and english major, so I am super picky about anything literary and anything spanish. it's not too hard to pick up just reading it, though, if you've got a good teacher!

I'm getting this (one day, I have so many planned) from Neruda's "Ode to the Book."

I learned about life
from life itself,
love I learned in a single kiss
and could teach no one anything
except that I have lived
with something in common among men,
when fighting with them,
when saying all their say in my song.

It's a feather quill pen 'writing' the text "a new story" from The Fifth Mountain.
